Bern Community library to join NExpress

October 31st, 2009

Bern Community Library will be joining NExpress at the end of this month.  NExpress is a partnership of 24 libraries in the Northeast Kansas Library System stretching from Atchison to Ottawa, from Rossville to Bonner Springs.  In November 2009, An additional seven libraries will be joining NExpress, including Bern’s.  What does this mean for you?  This means that no matter which one of these libraries you walk into you will have your pick from a collection of more than 500,000 library items!  The NExpress shared catalog is made possible by the open source software Koha.  With NExpress, you can see a history of the items you have checked out, renew your materials, keep lists of your own searches and requests, and easily get materials from other NExpress libraries. Want more? visit Novelist or the Kansas Library catalog right from the NExpress catalog- http://catalog.nexpresslibrary.org.

Check out these exciting features:

  • E-mail notifications- receive notices when a requested book has arrivied, is overdue or will be due in a few days.
  • Interlibrary Loan- you can borrow items from libraries across the state using your library card. (ask us about patron-initiated Interlibrary Load.)
  • Quick access to materials owned by other NExpress libraries.
  • If you have trouble requesting an item- contact us! We are here to help.
